The Spirit Center offers a facility center with a fully equipped kitchen, a covered pavilion, dorms that sleep up to 96 people with separate showers and bathroom facilities. The trees and plants that are native to the property make it a perfect place to nature watch! Come to enjoy the birds, the bugs, and all the wildlife that call the Spirit Center home. Our accommodations are an inviting environment for the spiritual, educational and social development for youth and adults.

Shalom Place

“I have come that they may have life and have it to the full.”  (John 10:10)

While the term “shalom,” is often translated as “peace” in the west, the true meaning somehow was lost in translation. It means “the state or condition of experiencing what is needed to live a fully human life.” A life that is not wanting in any of those elements we consider essential to complete the development of one’s personal potential and therefore the richness of community.

With the dedication of Shalom Place, the Spirit Center now offers two significant settings for encounter with this God Who is Love:  In the many opportunities to experience the beauty and variety of our fellow creatures throughout the Center’s walkways, and in the peaceful setting of this new building. With this promise, the Incarnate Word offers the full significance of SHALOM to all those who desire it.  May this setting be a meeting place for SHALOM, fullness of life for all who enter here.

The inside doors of the Shalom Place were repurposed from the former Incarnate Word Convent Chapel on Alameda Street. Shalom Place is dedicated to the Sisters of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament.

ACTIVITY CENTER

With generous contributions, The Robert and Nell Klepac and Family Activity Center is a multipurpose space for meetings, presentations, group activities, and meals. The Activity Center seating has a capacity of 200 seated in chairs, and about 150 seated at rectangular and round tables.

Bob’s Kitchen, named for benefactor Bob Becquet, has all that is necessary for preparing meals for your large or smaller groups. Bring your own food to prepare, or bring in prepared or catered meals. Available for your use are the following: a commercial range with grill, a convection oven, a warmer, a microwave oven, an ice maker, a large two-door refrigerator, and a large two-door standing freezer. An assortment of pots and pans and cooking utensils are available for your use, but you may bring your favorite cooking utensils. Bring your own paper goods and plasticware for meals, as there are no dishes or flatware available. Recycling bins for plastic cups and bottles are provided for the kitchen and the pavilion. Water fountains in the Activity Center and in the dorms provide quality drinking water.

DORMITORY BUILDING

Four air-conditioned units with twelve bunk-beds in each unit (sleeping for 24 guests) can be used individually or combined for a total occupancy of 96. Separate men’s and women’s bathrooms and showers (ADA Compliant) are located between the dormitory units. Bedding (pillow, sheets, and blankets), towels, shampoo and soap for showers are provided by attendees.

COVERED PAVILION

The pavilion, across from the Activity Center, may be used for extra eating space, breakout sessions, assemblies, or recreational purposes. Seating includes folding chairs or picnic tables with attached benches. Overhead lighting and electrical outlets on the pillars allow for outdoor evening performances or presentations. For your convenience, there are bathrooms and showers are attached to the pavilion.

OUTDOOR FEATURES

With your support, we will develop Nature trails, meditation areas, prayer groves, Stations of the Cross, a labyrinth prayer circle, rosary path, star gazing and campfire arena, and playing fields for outdoor games and sports. These features offer youth opportunities to connect with God and one another in the great outdoors.
