Our mission is to provide a place for spiritual, educational, and social development for the youth of South Texas.

The Fannie Bluntzer Nason Renewal Center, Inc. was established to honor the wishes of a pioneering woman, who, through her bequest, continues to make a difference in the lives of the people of south Texas.

Fannie Bluntzer Nason (1882-1961) was born April 25, 1882. She was the daughter of Nicholas and Justina Peters Bluntzer who came to settle in the Bluntzer area in the mid-nineteenth century. In a bequest after her death on May 18, 1961, Fannie donated the Bluntzer homestead and more than 300 acres of surrounding land to the Sisters of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament for religious and educational use in their ministry. As an expression of their ministry to bring about Christian wholeness in each person and Christian unity to all, the Sisters established the Fannie Bluntzer Nason Renewal Center, Inc., dba The Spirit Center—a 501(c)(3) non-profit listed in the National  Catholic Directory. The Sisters leased a portion of the land to The Spirit Center and established a Board of Directors to build and oversee a Catholic retreat facility, primarily for youth. Groundbreaking for construction was held in May 2016, and buildings were completed in the summer of 2017. Bishop Michael Mulvey, STL, DD, Bishop of Corpus Christi, presided at the groundbreaking and the dedication and blessing of the facilities in August of 2017.
